Full Story
Cuatrecasas is a leading Iberian law firm with 1,900+ professionals operating across Spain, Portugal, and Latin America. In early 2023, firm leadership recognized that generative AI would fundamentally reshape legal work and launched the CELIA Project — Cuatrecasas Legal Expert in AI — to position the firm as a sector leader in responsible AI adoption.
The challenge was not simply finding a capable AI tool, but building sustainable, deep adoption across 26 offices spanning multiple countries and practice areas. The firm needed a structured approach: AI champions drawn from knowledge lawyers, engineers, and practice leads were embedded in each office to drive grassroots adoption.
Harvey was selected as the core AI platform. An initial pilot of 150 lawyers validated the approach before a full firmwide rollout. Custom due diligence workflows were built to automatically extract key contract terms — change of control clauses, assignment provisions, guarantee structures — freeing lawyers to focus on risk analysis and strategic judgment. The platform also powers document drafting from curated templates and integrates 3,000+ firm briefs and memos for legal research.
The results demonstrate deep integration into daily work. Over 80% of lawyers now use Harvey daily, with 3,300+ prompts generated across the firm. Approximately 25% of users create more than 30 prompts per week. Partners note that Harvey sharpens legal thinking itself — prompt engineering forces practitioners to articulate problems with greater precision.
